A407 is an architecture office founded by
Bene Wahlbrink in Berlin. The practice works across architectural design and research, exploring the relationships between buildings, people, and the city. Its interests include the transformation of existing buildings, the careful use of resources, and the social and spatial dimensions of architecture.
Alongside design projects, A407 engages with teaching, writing, and research as integral parts of its architectural practice. The office serves as a space for exchange, bringing these different activities into dialogue and developing new perspectives on the built environment. This approach is reflected in Voices of the City, a research and teaching platform that explores the city through its architectural histories, everyday life, and ongoing processes of change.
BENE WAHLBRINK
Bene Wahlbrink is an architect and researcher based in Berlin and Zurich. After completing his apprenticeship as a draftsman, he pursued his architectural studies at the Münster School of Architecture and the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio. Additionally, he studied the history and theory of architecture at ETH Zurich.
Bene gained professional experience at HHF Architects in Basel, OMA/AMO in Rotterdam, and Herzog & de Meuron in Basel and Berlin. After co-founding Panta Rhei Collaborative during his studies, he became a member of Zurich International.
His teaching experience began at the Porto Academy in 2021, where he worked as an assistant to KOSMOS Architects. In 2026, he taught at the AA Visiting School Berlin as part of Shrinking Archipelago and lectured at the Department of History and Theory of Architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK).
Since 2023, he holds the position as a research assistant at TU Berlin at the chair of Architecture and Design Methods. His PhD research focuses on the group Aktion507, which emerged in Berlin in the context of the 1968 social and political movements.
